On The Road Again...

It is Tuesday morning and we landed in LAX last Tuesday night. After getting harassed by the fine employees of an airline which shall remain nameless, let just say it starts with the letter 'D' and ends in 'elta' for one board bag which ended up costing more to bring to Cali than two humans. Either way we made it with boards and once the rental car was started it was straight to In and Out for dinner. I must say I had a very good first impression of a double double animal style. We spent the night at Luke's house and headed South in the morning. Avoiding all traffic somehow we stopped by Fox to drop off the priceless boardbag, headed to WMG to visit Travis and play some simulator golf. We then met with Ian's grandma in La Jolla for lunch and a visit with the seals. We drove down to San Diego to stay at Travis' house and found ourselves eating some of the best Mexican food of all time. We walked next door and right into one of the biggest clubs I have ever seen, raging with a fashion show and everything. There has been a lot of partying, lots of meetings, a couple surf sessions, and great food. And this was all before the XXL awards. Walsh had a photo shoot the Thursday before the awards up at Fox in Irvine so we got a hotel up there. After five hours of watching him model and make all the workers laugh the entire time, it was down to San Clemente for a XXL interview and a surprise meeting of legend Greg Noll. After the work was done we headed to the hotel and debated to go out or rest up before the awards the next night. A call from Ian's friend Corey makes the decision easier. He tells of a really good band playing at the House of Blues in Disneyland and it is a quick drive from our hotel. The band came out in full mariachi costumes and played awesome mariachi tunes to both of our surprise. We later find out that the opening band didn't show so the headliners, The Bronx, stepped in to take their place and keep their fans happy. I am really impressed that they knew how to play all the different instruments. The main show was crazy and the lead singer knew how to entertain. First time I have ever seen the singer tell the crowd they do not know how to party and show them what a mosh pit is all about. All Time! This was all before the XXL awards which were a night to remember...

New Videos

It is Friday night and I am stuck inside editing videos. It's all good though as we plan to more than make up for it on Saturday. We have just put up two new little edits, Tahiti and New York so please check them out. Tahiti was filmed entirely by Ian Walsh and is just a sneak preview before we release footage of Ian's waves. This was more of an insider's view of surfing Tahiti. We also released his trip to New York CIty which came directly after Tahiti and was filmed by Pete. Thanks a lot Pete, if it wasn't for you I probably could have gone to the big apple...

Mayhem Week

It's Thursday and we just wrapped up a very hectic week surrounding Ian Walsh's Menehune Mayhem. Ian had just returned from a radical trip to New York City to watch the Red Bulls Soccer team open up their new stadium. He also had the chance to kick a penalty kick at half time with Reggie Bush and Ryan Sheckler. Not bad for the day after towing massive Tahiti. Once partying in the city was finished Walsh returned home for his kids event. The week began with a nice round of golf on the Wailea Emerald course which saw Ian and I take the skins game over the management team of Travis and Steve. There were plenty of long puts made, drivers broken, and 80's sunglasses which made for a great time. The event took place on Saturday and was a huge success. The waves were three to four feet and perfect for the groms. The day was filled with break dancing to beats by DJ Eskae, arm wrestling with Kai Borg and highly competitive surfing. The day ended with the adult party as Red Bull and Ian threw a party in Charley's in Paia. The DJ continued to spin with live performances by the Throwdowns. It was definitely one of the best nights the town has ever seen. With the event done it has now shifted our focus to getting back into surfing and filming. We recently had a pretty good swell hit Honolua Bay and nailed a few clips. We are both looking forward to the next few months for sure...
