Back on Maui

Back from snowboarding and enjoying the warm tropical sun. Time to defrost the bones and get back in the surfing groove. Waves have been alright, couple fun days at Ho'okipa and feels good to get back to filming surfing. We are looking at a couple good swells coming over the weekend so it should be a lot of fun. The plan is to stay home on Maui and take advantage of all of these swells before the 2010 Menehune Mayhem on March 27. Check back for updates on all of the Maui antics and footage from these upcoming swells...

New Video

Its now the third Week With Walshy and we are still working on our crossover skills. Ian and brother Luke just jumped on a private Gulfstream 5 jet, heading up to Western Canada to do some snow cat boarding. Jealous, but still in the snow of Wyoming, I have been riding everyday. We have recently posted a short video of some snowboarding footage, all shot with Gopro and Flip cameras. We are scheduled to fly back to Maui on Thursday however there are storms forecasting more snow heading our way. Ian, still waiting for some deep powder days, will no doubt consider staying. There is however a series of North swells heading towards Hawaii for the weekend so stay tuned for what the next Week With Walshy holds...

J-Hole Snowboarding

It is now the start of week two with Walshy and we are officially on the road. After a Superbowl sunday at home routing for the Saints and Reggie Bush, yet losing money by betting on Manning's Colts, we are leaving the small waves on Maui for the mountains of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Excited for the powder search ahead we cant help feelings of guilt as a large West Northwest swell is heading for Maui. Waiting for the forecast Ian sees that it will be a little too West for Jaws with a bad wind forecast and books his ticket along with his brother Luke's. In true Ian Walsh fashion the phone call comes immediately after tickets are booked. It's Jamie O'Brien telling of one of the better swells in the past few years heading towards Micronesia. Walsh instantly begins the initial stages of changing flights when Jamie calls back and reports of bad winds. A brief moment of relief until the next call. Jamie is going, tickets are booked, waves should be ok but not great. Walsh, under a little peer pressure, maintains his plans for Jackson Hole. So here I sit in Salt Lake City airport, gate B10, waiting for my connecting flight into the snow. Ian and Luke, on a different airline, are in the midst of their multi-city airport tour of the west coast before arriving in Jackson just before 1pm. Stay tuned for photo and video updates of this Week With Walshy on the powdered slopes of Jackson Hole, WY.
